The Boxer from Somewhere Else The Ken Buchanan Story
Channel 4
“I loved it, because I love KB, boxing and Edinburgh. I really like the style of the film.”
His life,
in his own
words
A powerful feature-length documentary built around Ken Buchanan’s last long-form interview before he passed away in 2023. Buchanan talks through his life in chronological order, describing in detail the highs, the lows and the personal thoughts about his journey.
Fifteen years in the making, the film charts the extraordinary rise of the Portobello-born fighter who became world lightweight champion in 1970 and went on to be celebrated as one of Britain’s finest boxers — and asks why a man of that stature slipped so far from the national memory.
Through rare archive, original animation, intimate interview and cinematic storytelling, it is a portrait of a man rather than a record of a career.

Edinburgh
A full house gathered in Ken’s home city for the world premiere, followed by a live Q&A with director Jamie Steedman. The film went on to open in Vue cinemas across the UK that October.

I can not wait to see this in the cinema!
Fantastic work by Jamie Steedman. I cannot wait to see this on the big screen. One of the greatest boxers finally gets to tell his story in his own words. A true boxing legend.
